Canada

I was in Canada last week for work.  Calgary specifically.  Nothing too exciting going on as it was for work but I did get up to Calgary tower and stood on the glass bottom for a selfie of sorts.

calgary tower

According to their website, in addition to Calgary already being in the sky, the observation deck puts you at “1228 metres above sea leve”l.  In American that translates to way the f up there. WOO!

Oh and I got this fabulous shot and now I need to venture into night photography more.

Photography

I downloaded Photoshop Elements and hated it instantly.  I also bought some matte presets for Lightroom.  If you do not know what that means, it’s to make my pictures look like this:

I yelled at Brownlee the other day that we could have gotten married months ago and have it cost $100 and take 10 minutes and I could have had a new camera by now.  Because these are the things we argue about.

Concerts

Remember that time I had an epic concert streak?  Well 2014 is shaking up to be fun.  I snagged “pre-sale” tickets for The Black Keys for November.  Then Aziz Ansari is FINALLY coming to Houston and I got tickets to that as well.  Spoon released a new single which means a new CD will be coming out which means they should be on tour which means they better come to Houston.  OH I HOPE THEY COME TO HOUSTON!  I shouldn’t have to beg the universe for my favority band to come to the 4th largest city in the nation but I mean you gotta do what you gotta do. PLEASE COME TO HOUSTON, SPOON!

Music

And speaking of music, Paloma Faith released a new CD.  With this being 2014 and what not you think it would be simple for an American to get a British CD.  You would be thinking wrong.  SO WRONG.  Let me tell you about iTunes and all their glory.  These mofos won’t let me download a British CD unless I have a British mailing address.  And then you have to switch to iTunes UK and everything is all 69 pence guh’vnuh.  Then I tried Amazon because they run the world (Ministry of Sales is what they should be called) but they wanted to charge me import fees.  Long story short I got it and I’m elated except I also bought Paramore and The Black Keys and they immediately got pushed to the side.

Books

goodnight nobodyWe started an eBook club at  Houston Moms Blog and the first book was The One & Only by Emily Giffin.  My thoughts will be on the blog.  Anyway, right after that I read Girls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close.  It was more of a short story anthology about the same set of characters.  The awkward from 19-30.  I loved it.  Some jackass left a comment on Goodreads like “some of these characters smoked marajuana which is illegal! I can’t believe you would write such a thing Jennifer Close.” LMAO. Nerds.  Anyway I liked it and read it in 3 days and I’m still 2 damn books behind for my 2014 challenge.  UGH. Jennifer Weiner has a new book out, All Fall Down, which I pre-ordered and she sent me a signed copy of Goodnight Nobody (back catalog) for doing so.  Cause we cool like that.  I want to stop reading The Marriage Plot to start it. But how am I ever going to finish the challenge?! Why can’t The Marriage Plot be about college like The Art of Fielding was about college?!

I saw The Fault in Our Stars and it was true to the book for the most part and I was happy about it and cried profusely.

Congrats on nerdery if you understood any of that. #BYON !

HBO

HBO in all it’s fantastic glory is starting the final season of True Blood this Sunday.  I plan to do nothing all day but charge my phone so I can live tweet. It’s incredibly serious and it has been too long since I have seen one Eric Northman and Lafayette.

And then next week The Leftovers starts and I read the book and I’m going to be glued to the TV.

EVERYTHING IS AWESOME.

  1. I just love your random posts. I have to remember not to read them at work because I tend to laugh out loud.
