Day 15 – Days & Nights

The Who:

Daley is a British soul singer.  I know I said I was taking a Brit break but I didn’t know.

The Why:

I saw someone interested in a Daley concert on Facebook and remembered seeing the name before so I added it to my Spotify queue.

The Deets:

Daley is more soul and R&B than say Emile Sande who I called souly pop.  He’s like a kid that listened to A LOT of Babyface and then grew up and sang like Babyface.

Verdict:

I really really liked it.  Not enough to go to the concert here next week, but definitely adding it to the purchase list.   Plus I already had soul vibes from Leon Bridges and King. #NewMusicMonth is going to cost me dollars.

Day 16 – Malibu

The Who:

Anderson .Paak is a singer rapper from California.  And not a singer rapper like autotune, more like he can rap and he can sing.  And is good at both.

The Why:

Bella AND SBG have mentioned Anderson within like days of each other so I added him to the queue.

The Deets  & Verdict:

This was a long CD too. 16 songs! Unheard of since like 2002!  Just about equal parts rap to singing but all of it was mellow…as far as rap goes.  It wasn’t like Big Grams where I wanted to open up the windows and let the world hear it but it was something I could listen to all day.  I told Bella it was like equal parts Bilal and Kendrick Lamar.  I guess that’s the California flow.  While my rap list is short these days, I’ll add it to the list.  He has a Soundcloud if you’re interested.
