#NewMusicMonday – The Search for Everything – Wave One AND Hot Thoughts

#NewMusicMonday – The Search For Everything (Wave One)

John Mayer is back. Ish.

While I’m still not even used to music coming out on a Friday, John Mayer released 4 songs as Wave One of his new album, The Search for Everything.  Like he was done with four songs and instead of waiting on the other eight, he was just like “here, it’s the internet, you can wait on a tangible item.”

<eye roll>

I want a tangible item but I damn sure downloaded these four songs right away.  I already knew “Love on the Weekend” and I was glad it was a thing but I wasn’t gaga.  John is the only reason I keep Snapchat so I knew he was in the studio and had been working on things aside from touring with the Greatful Dead.  And he was working with the production crew from Contiuum and Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan (if none of this makes sense to you then I guess that’s okay or whatever just know this is canon).

But the very first song was “Moving On and Getting Over” and I was like omgjohniloveyouforever.

So right now I’m getting the Contiuum mellow break up but in an adult way like I really want what’s best for you and let’s keep in touch feel.  I like it.  Partly because John is back.  Partly because it’s not Montana Mountain Man music.  But mostly cause it’s good.

Here’s the link to listen in all the ways.

AND Spoon released a new single this week.  On a Tuesday.  As the good Lord intended.  It was a sneak attack for me and I opened Twitter like 10 seconds after the band tweeted the link.  This is what the romantics call kismet.  I’m a romantic (in theory).

The full on real life album, Hot Thoughts,  will be released March 17.  I haven’t read anything about it because it really doesn’t matter.  I’m going to buy it and go to the concert. They’re doing pre-orders of limited edition vinyls as well as CDs (and yes even digital but you don’t run out of digital copies) on the website and you get the download of the title track. It’s also streaming on Spotify.

So that’s new music from Norah Jones, John Mayer, and Spoon.  Trying times make good art. I even read of rumors D’Angelo was back to work.  That means The Black Keys have some work to do!
