Blog Elevated Conference. Day 2.

Here’s the recap from Day 1 if you need to catch up.  Catch UP!

Day 2 of the Blog Elevated conference started with another grande chai latte.  I ran into Lauren at Starbucks at we were tired from our brains learning but we were looking forward to the breakout sessions.

I should have been looking forward to the opening speaker that day.

Katie Laird (@happykatie) kicked the day off with How to be a Blog Ambassador.  This is when you form a good relationship with a sponsors/company and represent (let’s all raise our respective roofs…rooves?).  Anyway there is no getting lucky, no matter how late you stay up.  You work to build these relationships.  You get in and you try and you stalk…in moderation.  You get the sponsorship you want.  Cause you rock just by being you.  Go do everything that she says.

I also attended the Social Media Tools breakout session by Eric T. Tung (@EricTTung).  Man.  I learned all kind of tools to tweet even more and more effectively and what the optimal tweets per day is (22, if you were wondering).  But I don’t include the live tweets of Scandal, Venture Bros, and True Blood.

My final session of the day was prop styling with Rachel Matthews (@SthrnFairytale).  I had actually met her at the reception Thursday night and she was just omgawesome but mostly I had never met her or heard of her blog or anything and then I learned she was doing the photo class and I was all “I’m in there.  Let me tell you about Rachel.  She’s a food blogger.  And this is why bloggers are awesome, because we sat and learned how to take pictures from someone who writes about cooking.  Let that marinate.  And then go look at her blog.  And be like “daaaaamn”.  And freebie tip: vertical pics on Pinterest get pinned way more than horizontal.

Not only was the conference full of awesome, but they sent us home with swag bags, slideshows (from the sessions you went to and the awesome sessions you missed cause you were in another awesome session, free ebooks, and a ton of new blogs to read.

Fortunately, most of these awesome folks live right here in the great city of Houston.  YESSSS.  Unfortunately I can not keep going like I didn’t learn stuff and have to make some blogging tweaks.  Bloggers are fantastic.
