2016.5

I wanted to write this the beginning of July but here we are.

2016 has been pretty much a shit show, but we’ve been doing a lot as our family unit to enjoy the year.  Having a 5 year old has been fun and trying but we’ve been able to do more than we ever could when she was younger.

Instead of keeping the year in a box, this year I decided that we would keep a cork board in the living room with all the things that we did this year.  Normally the ticket stubs get thrown into a box never to be seen again.  (Movie stub ink does not keep).  It’s things all 3 of us have done, a concert or two I’ve seen with friends, movie stubs (Addy and I loved Ghostbusters) etc.  Instead of just keeping them digitally, it’s a nice reminder to have the stuff in your face, especially since I haven’t gotten any photos printed at all (shoutout to the Instax!).

Eventually the year will have to go into a box but for now it’s a constant reminder of all the things that actually happen in the course of a year AND I don’t have to have any more half ass attempts at Smashbook scrapbooking.  But Addy will be starting school.  Brownlee will be starting school.  We have a big trip planned.  Birthdays.  Holidays.  Skip days etc.

How do you keep track of the year?  (It’s time for all for all of the new agendas and I’m trying to figure out if I want to ditch my 12 month Kate Spade for a new ban.do or what. Will also take advice on that)

  1. I keep track of my year with my planner. It literally goes with me Monday – Friday and I spend time planning out my week on Sundays. I honestly believe that my life would literally fall apart if I didn't take time to plan out my week as best as I can. I'm sorry that the year hasn't been all too good for you. But we still have a few months left to turn all of that around. And it's great that you all were able to have some wonderful times and be able to appreciate that. Focus on the good.. always focus on the good.
